Janet's Bio
Current Performing Work: Janet's music career is multifaceted. She actively performs at numerous venues throughout Southern California performing in small ensembles and with bands including The Mar Dels, the Ira Liss Big Band Jazz Machine, Storey Lines, The Xceptional Tribute to ABBA, and her own bands and groups; Rhythm Express, Double Take, Sweethearts of Swing, Corner Pocket, Harmony Express, and Classic Sass, and several more.
Church Position: Janet has held the position of Music Director of the Unity Center, San Diego since 1996 where she sings, books guest artists, leads the choir, and leads the band, Soul Notes.
Music Business: During the holiday seasons, she ran a very popular Christmas caroling company. Since its inception in 1989, it grew from one quartet to over 15 quartets booking an average of 250 gigs during the season, the largest season being 436 gigs within a 5 week span. She sold this company in 2013.
Education and Teaching: She holds a bachelors of music degree and secondary education music teaching credential from San Diego State University. She teaches classes in vocal technique and leads the vocal jazz ensemble, Spectrum Singers, at Palomar College since 2003. She gives vocal production workshops and also has many private students.
Artists History: She has performed on several worldwide tours performing in 36 countries. She has opened for such name acts as Sheryl Crow, The Pointer Sisters, Johnny Cash, The Righteous Brothers, and the Platters. Some of the many notable artists that she has worked with are Grammy Award winners Paul Overstreet (27 top ten songs), Bob Mintzer (Yellowjackets), Eric Marienthall (Chick Corea), Wayne Bergeron (Maynard Ferguson), Kristen Korb (Ray Brown), Holly Haufmann (flautist), and many more.
Studio Work: She has recorded seven CDs of her own as well as national radio jingles and studio work for many projects. The most recent CD she is featured on was nominated for best jazz recording of the year by San Diego Music Awards. She is currently working on her eighth CD recording which will be a double CD.

Leo Serna - Trumpet - Ensenada, Mexico
Leo's Bio
Leo Serna has received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California (UABC) Ensenada, Mexico.
His formal musical studies are from Arizona Western College and Centro de Estudios Musicales (CEM) in Ensenada, Mexico.
His primary teachers include Randy Wright, John McFerran Wilds and Francisco Rosas Montoya.
As a student of classical and jazz trumpet, Leo has also taken occasional lessons with Alan Hood, Ronald Romm, David Scott and David Hickman.
He has appeared as a guest soloist at the University or Redlands in Redlands, CA.
Mr. Serna is currently the professor of trumpet at Universidad Autonoma de Baja California and Centro de Estudios Musicales in Ensenada, Mexico. A position he has held since 2013.

Martin Peralta - Guitar - San Luis, AZ
Martin's Bio
A native of San Luis, Arizona, Martin Peralta began taking guitar lessons when he was twelve with his father. His first professional gig was at a local club in 1995. After hearing Santana on the radio, he was inspired to play latin, rock, jazz and blues. Soon after he discovered the jazz guitar stylings of Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino became important influences. Martin studied music and jazz guitar at his local community college under the direction of Carl Posch. After that Martin joined the jazz program at Arizona State University and studied guitar with Chris Champion.
Martin first toured with a Mexican artist in 2002 and since then Martin has been active as a professional guitarist playing for different traveling bands covering a wide range of styles. In 2020 Martin Peralta released his first solo album as an independent artist.
Martin is currently the director of bands at San Luis High School and Gadsden Schools. With the Gadsden band Martin toured London in 2013, Madrid in 2015 and Rome 2019. As a guitarist, he recently toured the United States and Japan with the group Los Chicos, a Selena tribute band.

Papo's Bio
Born in the USA, yet raised in Mexico, Leo was exposed to both Mexican and American Music at an early age. At age 7, he started taking music lessons from his dad. At age 15, Leo started playing professionally with local bands from both countries at private events and night clubs.
At the age of 19, Leo was accepted into the Music Program at Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ, studying under Carl Posch and Charles Smalley. There, he obtained his Associates Degree in Music.
A couple of years later, Leo began touring all around Mexico and the United States with Mexican Pop singer and Grammy winner Pilar Montenegro.
His passion for music led him to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with an emphasis in music from Northern Arizona University.
Currently, Papo is teaching music in the Gadsden Elementary School District in San Luis, Az. He is the music director for Mariachi Gadsden and the Gadsden Elementary School Band. Under Leo’s music direction, Mariachi Gadsden has performed at renowned Mariachi festivals such as The Tucson International Mariachi Conference in Tucson, Az, Conferencia Internacional del Mariachi y La Charreria in Guadalajara, Mexico, representing our great Nation, and Festival de Música Alfonso Ortiz Tirado in Alamos, Sonora Mexico.
In 2015, Leo started playing with the San Luis, Arizona based Alternative/Pop Rock group "The International Mighty Mushroom" (TIMM). They have toured around the USA and Mexico where they have been able to share the stage with Mon Laferte, Enanitos Verdes, and Jenny and The Mexicats, just to name a few. Cesars Bio
Bassist, Composer and Band Director Cesar Juarez was born and raised in San Luis R.C., Sonora, Mexico. He now lives in Arizona, where he obtained his Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University, a Bachelor of Music with an Emphasis in Jazz from Arizona State University, Bass Professional and Bass Specialization Certificates from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. In addition to his professional degrees, in the year 2000 Cesar got an Outstanding Musicianship Award and a scholarship from the Berklee School of Music.
Cesar has been working as a music teacher and band director for sixteen years. He has worked for Gadsden Elementary School District, Arizona Western College and El Centro Elementary School District, where he currently teaches.
Besides his teaching job Cesar leads The Cesar Juarez Band (jazz-funk) and collaborates with many musical projects in Yuma, AZ and the northern Mexico area, where he and his band had performed at many arts and jazz festivals.
Currently, Cesar is working on creating and composing new music.

Mario's Bio
Mario Hernandez has been hitting the drums since 1999 and is a live performer, recording artist and engineer from San Luis, Arizona. He is the owner of 512 Productions and Studio 512 and enjoys playing latin, rock, pop and jazz styles.
Mario teaches music at the Gadsden Elementary District 32 and is the drummer for Los Chicos del 512, the Selena Experience. Los Chicos del 512 tour every year from the West Coast to the East Coast and have performed in Europe, Japan and Mexico making Mr. Hernandez and international performer.
